Patrick or MB Tech A/C Compressor Noise
I noticed a mild constant humming/buzzing noise which seems to be coming from the A/C compressor area, when I turn the A/C off the noise stops. The noise just started today. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Hello Patrick, thank for thanks for the reply.
I was not able to read the labels (there are 2) on the compressor that well, as I have limited visual access, but from what I could see I did not find a similar # to what you gave.
*It is a buzzing/humming noise when the a/c is on and car is hot. Sometimes its always buzzing and other times not, but you can still hear just after you turn the a/c off.
*The noise will apperar when a/c is first turned on and even louder when first turned off, then it stops.
*The car was produced this July.
Thoughts please.

With the Star Diagnosis laptop you can have control over the valve in the compressor. This way the mechanic can bring the percentage that the valve works in relationship to the noise.
Has your dealer already tried this? Does the noise change when holding the hoses?
Your problem is certainly not a "known" problem (so no similar experiences, except for that part number mentioned before).

Have not been in for serivce just yet.
Does the part # you mention apply to 2004 models?
What is the exact name of the valve you are speaking of?
I'll try to hold the hoses and see what happens.

The part number is just a number we got at a troubleshooting seminar from DCAG, but I cannot tell on which modells this compressor is mounted. I think it has not been mounted for a long time.
The valve is an electrical regulating valve in the compressor. The compressor is not regulated by a clutch but by regulating the current to the valve (the wheel at the compressor turns all the time).
