Torque converter drain plug

Hello everyone,

I've read that the drain plug on the torque converter has been removed since mid '99 but later on it came back. Does anybody knows of the following cars are equipped with a TC drain plug?

a)
- W211, 2002, E220 CDI, 722.6 (5 speed) and;
- W221, 2008, S320 CDI, 722.9 (7G tronic) ??

b)
I'm planning to change the transmission fluid on both cars. I've been reading many DIY on this forum which makes everything clear; but as I'm from Belgium I don't have any idea where i can buy/ order an ATF pump for the 7G tronic.

I mentioned Assenmacher and Mityvac pumps but i think the are quite expensive, I already have a small pump for the transmission of the boat engine (Mercury mercruiser) http://forums.audiworld.com/picture....ctureid=147326

or would this be better http://www.alter-eco.be/artikeldetail.php?id=596&lan=nl

c)
Do you have to "know" how much oil you are pumping in the 7G tronic or do you just keep on pumping till it comes out via the overflow pipe?

d) Is the 7G Tronic of the W221, 2008 already equipped with the modified pan and larger overflow pipe?

Thx in advance

When I worked in the transmission business we used to drill the bottom edge of torque converters and install a 1/4 " tapered plug. It was a simple matter of drilling a 1/4 hole in the middle lower edge of the torque converter, tap the hole with the same thread as the plug and tighten in the plug. The plug was not enough to affect the balance of the torque but allowed draining on fill fluid changes. It makes little sense to me to change the transmission fluid with evacuating the torque converter also. I've had mechanics tell me that the magnet in the Mercedes pan is so strong that it attracts a high percentage of metal filings. I find this hard to swallow.
