91 300ce warm starting probs

My 91 300ce w/24 V engine (80K miles) starts perfectly fine when cold from a long shutdown. Runs great after as well. When turned off, for just a few minutes, up to a few hours and engine is still warm, engine starting becomes a sporadic issue of barely firing and hesitating for a few minutes, requiring me to push on accelerator to keep from stalling. if I put it in gear too early, then engine will stall. a few minutes of this & then the engine is fine again.
any thoughts?? EHA?, MHA? Fuel pump?

thanks....Bill
