Plastic Inlet Manifold

I am planning an LPG install on my 1993 Mercedes 320ce (UK car, registered August 1 1993).

The problem I have is the car has a plastic inlet manifold which can be damaged if a misfire occurs (something which can happen with LPG).

I have the idea to obtain an old aluminium manifold and use that, I reckon there will be very little difference between the two apart from the material which they are made of - unless anyone knows otherwise.

Is there any problem with using an aluminium manifold on this car?
