Weird Engine noise, any ideas??

Hi guys,

Hope someone has heard this before and knows what it is, im afraid my car might explode on me!! lol. It gets worse and worse the hotter the engine gets... 3.2L supercharged, 2003 with 170 000 kms on clock...

Please let me know your thoughts....

Take the drivebelt off and recheck, if it's still noisy at the front of the block then I would take both rocker covers off and check the timing chain.

Right did as you said, taking the serp belt off and replaced sc bearing and still same noise with sc not even turning. So now to take of the tops and check chain, only thing is, what am I looking for in the chain??

Might be a better idea to get it towed to your local mechanic. Basicly you take both rocker covers off, do a visual inspection of the chain guides. If you have the cam locking tools then I would make sure they line up correctly. A stretched chain will stop the cam timing tools from lining up correctly. Hopefully you dont have a damaged chains guide. I would also remove the chain tensioner (remove the alternator) and check for physical damage.

I wouldn't be starting the engine until you find the cause of the problem as a total failure will be very costly.
