Smile ATF level concerns?

On a 7g 722.902 transmission with the "white" weir tube, the final fill was done at 34*C(93*F) instead of new recommended 45*C (113*F).

How much a concern with the 8mm overfill of transmission fluid?

I think it will only be a possible concern when it is running hot above 80*C or 176*F.

I would think that 8mm is an acceptable margin of error.

Thanks Kjb55,
I did find some info on the tolerances for a NAG1 transmission ATF from the recommend target (within +/- 5mm) at all temperatures, but nothing for the NAG2 transmission. The WIS changed from 40-45*C to just 45*C in adjusting the final fill. That's about 3 mm reduction from the older white weir tube method.

I guess a little bit too much (aeration when very hot) is better than a little bit too little (sucking in air to the pump when cold). The NAG1 has tight tolerances. The official NAG2 tolerance are unknown to me.

I'm with you. When I did my C300, per the book at 45º C, I capped it with more draining than they recommended as I'd rather be a few mm over than under.

The weir tube to the pan doesn't seem like a leak proof seal. I would expect some dripping from the weir tube to pan connection.

Was the removal of the dipstick to save money or needed to pressurize the system? If the latter, there will be no overflow tube. There no good way to monitor the ATF level or quality.

I don't think the TC's ATF was drained cause only 7 Qt. was used. Will likely do another service in 10,000 to 20,000 miles.

Thanks again, kjb55.
