MB Menu System Interface
Does anyone have any info on how the MB Menu System discovers new peripherals on the fiberoptic network. Are they epromed and then only activated or does it use something fancier like UDDI or JINI.

The fiber system uses the D2B protocol. When adding a new item into the loop, the system will recognize it upon the startup init. The problem is that Mercedes designed the system around COMAND and their own structure. Therefore, once additions are added into the loop, version coding through the Mercedes StarDiag system must be completed to properly version code the loop and place D2B items in a pre determined order. If this is not done, the system will throw Diag Trouble codes and some options will not work. For example, unless properly version coded, items that are supposed to be displayed in the on screen menu under the speedo won’t and so forth.

Nope... Just don't hit the TEL button. lol...
In all honesty, if we could get a hold of the COMAND Software update disk, we could sector edit our own msgs. into it....
