Question about AMG 63 M156 Engines
Does anyone know if all the M156 motors are interchangeable with each other? Ie between C63, E63, CLS63, S63, CL63?? I am trying to do a motor drop in from a C63 into an S63 and was told that it should all be same...but mechanics looked at both motors and saying theyre different

They fit, the exhaust manifolds, sumps and oil pumps are different through but they are all easily interchangeable. I think the cams have a slightly different profile between models but nothing particularly noticeable.

Yup my mechanic says the oil pan, oil pump, and timing cover is different and that he doesn't think swap those parts over would work. The block, head, and everything else is the same. Can we swap these parts over and make it work?
