M271 Engine Timing Chains???
I'm thinking this has been done before, I'm new, so cut me some slack

My Mercedes Indie Tech [used to be an tech instructor with M.B. for 20+ years] told me, in his opinion, changing the engine oil / filter every +15,000kms as per Assyst... is way too long even with Merc Synthetic Oils [Mobil 1]??
On M271 engines the only failures re timing chains he has seen, are cars that have gone 15,000kms + 1 year or more between oil changes. Everything done @ 10,000kms max has been fine ...NO STRETCHY DE CHAIN
He has a substancial M.B. Indie Shop & is well respected by M.B.
Sludge forming is the culprit in his opinion, which is negated by more frequent oil changes ie 10k max or every 6 months, whichever comes first.
On a side note: he does not use or recommend oil additives, but has torn down 6 M271's that had been using Liqui Moly Ceratec & commented that they where the cleanest engines he has ever seen...they all had in excess of 350,000kms one was over 490,000!!!
Your thoughts people??
an oil and filter change doesnt cost alot .. i recommend changing the oil and filter every 5000-7000 km !! and always use oil manufactured by known companies .. liqui molly has great oil !! however i am a ( Wurth ) fan
, i owned a bmw 540 1998 for several years and used that oil , the old oil always had the same color of the new oil !!
