Unhappy 2011 GL550 suspension issues.

Hi folks, I'm hoping someone here can help me help my incompetent dealership service department in figuring out what's wrong with my suspension, since they're clueless. I notices a metal grinding sound from my car as I was driving it one day and then following that, the airmatic lifting system appeared to not function correctly...The car wasn't self leveling and when I tried lifting it on a flat surface (car not in motion), the car would lift very slowly about an inch then drop and attempt to lift again but not more than 1/2 inch. Took it to the dealer and they say there's nothing wrong with it. I tried showing them the issue but the senior service tech says that it's functioning fine (maybe he needs his eyes checked?). Obviously it's not functioning correctly and they're stumped/and or stupid. Please someone help! The car has 15,000 miles on it, in pristine condition other than this issue. It's still under warranty.

That's What I'm beginning to think too. Just wish that I could go with some knowledge so I can point them in the right direction. The service manager called me tonight saying that this is normal for the vehicle to only lift 1 inch!!!!! What a moron. I told him what about self leveling and he said I wouldn't be able to notice it anyway!!!! The issue would be covered under warranty if they were inclined to actually find out what's wrong with the car.

Front suspenaion struts .... it might be only one that is busted out .... try lifting it and puting ur ear near each tire . At a point you should hear a hissing sound ( air coming out ) , if you hear it then the strut is leaking air ...
From your feedback ( grinding when cornering and airmatic failure ) its a front struts problem .. might be only 1 and not both ... gd luck

2011 GL550

Hi I just bought a GL550 and had the brakes/rotors replaced. $1200.

Are there any other issues you see? Where they able to find and identify fix the issue?
Would you buy an extended warrantee?
thanks,
terry
