I have a 2006 E250 and need to replace the battery in my key fob. The manual says to pop out the battery compartment. Do I just pull on it or is there a latch that needs to be pressed.

There is a latch - in general you have to remove the physical key and use it to press on the latch that secures the battery compartment. Instructions for doing this vary by year and model, so check the owners manual. If you don't have an owners manual, check online for a PDF version of the owners manual for your year and model.
