1996 S320 power loss?

My S320 had a broken heater hose fitting (the 4 way plastic union back by the firewall) I replaced it and the other hoses & thermostat. Now that it is back on the road it has no power/acceleration. It did get hot when the fitting broke but not sure hot or how long it was hot as my wife was driving and didn’t notice it right away. Actually didn’t notice anything until the engine died and she coasted to a stop. Any ideas on where to start checking? It is not showing any check engine lights or anything but really seems to struggle power wise. Any help would be appreciated .....Thanks

You can start by a compression check on every cylinder .... does it run rough on idle ? Is there white smoke coming out of the exhaust ?

No white smoke, it idles smooth & sounds good, it seems to rev good when in park but just very gutless when going down the road. I'll do the compression check after the 4th weekend. Not that it would have anything to do with the power loss but I was thinking last night that I never saw the broken piece of the union that broke. I hope it just fell out V being in the cooling system someplace.
