Erratic idle when cold, sometimes stalls
W204 C280 Petrol Auto with M272 engine.
I get a erratic idle when the car is on, driven for 5 mins from cold, when I get to a stationary position, the revs jump about and sometimes the engine stalls and occassionaly tries to creep forward. HOWEVER, once the engine is upto full operating temp, the issue seems to subside (temp rises to around 90 degrees - not sure if it is running hot?). No engine light over the last month however yesterday, I finally had the EML come on and I have had the code read as:
P0745 - Pressure Control Solenoid “A”
P0749 - Pressure Control Solenoid “A” Intermittent
I cleared the codes and since then, the EML has not re-appeared. Done about 50 miles so far since the reset. Erratic idle is still occasional.
Having done a bit of reading, I see that M272 engine has a common problem with the adjustment solenoids where the VIN number falls before #2729..30 759427 (which mine does). However I see this code is related to a Pressure Control Solenoid of which there seem to be three (A, B & C). Is the code directly related to these solenoids? I have been reading over the last few weeks about this stalling issue and it seems it can be any number of things including spark plugs, ignition coils, faulty fuel injector(s), dirty MAF, dirty transmission fluid etc etc.
Any advice welcome.
