Do a search for "Mercedes fuel tank swirl pot". Your tank possibly has debris in it and it has filled the swirl pot so the pickup can no longer draw fuel at low levels.

I wish that was the case, but the tank is spotless, i took out the pump and every thing, maybe if I understood the mechanics of the pump, I could determine the problem

Then mate try and get a gd fuel filter .. theres a valve in the fuel filter than sends excess fuel back into the tank .. it might be ur problem .... might also be a weak pump ... but try the filter first

I checked the pump. if my gauge is correct, it pumps at 2 bar, that is now directly from the pump,......any idea what the pressure should be??
