1994 c280

c280 questions

i am working on some oil leaks on my 94 C280. When i was replacing the valve cover gasket i noticed that all torx head bolts that holds down the camshafts are filled with something that look and feels like grease. I was wondering if anybody knows if this is done at the factory to prevent dirt buildup or could it be something else. My car only has 55,000 miles so i don't think it is regular buildup

Your profile lists you as a 1994 C280 which has the I-6. The C-280 V-6 which started production in 1998, I read, has oil leak problems of it's own.

The 98 C280 has oil leak problems? Where? Is it fixable? Do you have a link with more info?

Check the W202 forum and look for questions about "Im going to buy..." Or "Reliability of...." as headers. When the forum went down in the Fall, a number of months of content was lost, so you can only go so far back before there is a big blank space in time.

My remembrance is that early 98 had crankshaft seal problems. You can also check www.culub202.com also.
