Mercedes C230 Sport Sedan

Guys,
I am pulling my hair out. I am trying to replace the drive belt on my 2004 C230 Sport Sedan with the 1.8L Kompressor motor (M271). I cannot figure out how to remove the air inlet pipe from the duct mounted in the radiator support. It is making me crazy! I found the clip you release from the radiator support bar but cannot find anything else that appears to be holding it in place. Yet, it will not come loose. Everything I've tried has failed - short of breaking parts, which I don't want to do.
I've looked in my Haynes manual and the MB CD for repair and maintenance and none of them say more than to pry off the cap and release the clip. Then remove the inlet pipe. It isn't that simple.
If anyone has some ideas, I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks all. Jeff.
