Hot air blowing into footwells

Hot air blows continuously into footwells of my 2001 C180 Classic Auto saloon. It appears to not be an airconditioner issue because when driving, the hot air blows into footwells even if airconditioning is switched off. When airconditioner is running, cold air blows out of all other vents but hot air blows into footwells. The level of heat of the air blowing into the footwells increases with the length of time that the engine is running. I have tried all variations of the air direction control but the hot air still blows into the footwells (when being driven) and leaks into footwells (when car is stationary).
I would appreciate any information or advice about fixing this problem.

First piece of advice on your first post.

Search. Then ask for an easy answer. Your issue has been addressed multiple times.

Search for "Mercedes mixing valves problems", "Mercedes duo-valves problems", "Mercedes climate control vent flap". Search Pelican Parts technical articles.

You will pick up quite a bit of technical info searching for your answer.

Thanks very much for your reply and advice. I had actually searched 16 pages of posts before I posted but couldn't identify any prior posts that seemed to apply to non-airconditioner running hot air. No doubt due to my complete lack of mechanical experience. I will now search as suggested and look forward to benefiting from your advice. Thanks again. Marcus
