w210 passenger side mirror help

I have searched but didn't come up with anything useful. The passenger side rv mirror on my w210 will adjust away from the car, but not come back in. I can hear the motor working but I get no movement. I didn't see a listing on Pelican for any internal mirror parts other than the frame but I don't really want to disassemble it until I know whats going on. Is this a common issue? Does anyone have any history with an issue like this?

Having never disassembled a Mercedes mirror's adjustment motor, I would hazard a SWAG one of two things has happened:

1. A plastic-toothed gear assembly inside the mirror has stripped due to old age and normal wear and tear.

2. The motor assembly has a plastic cover (think of a drum cover) clipped over the plastic motor housing. If the plastic cover has become partially loose due to one or more of the clips disengaging from the housing, the mirror will hang on the housing. This one has happened to me.

You could always pick up a salvage mirror assembly and install that.
