1965 Mercedes 230
Fintail W111 Carb
intail
Hello guys, I have just aquired a 1963 Mercedes
Fintail 220sb (white w/ green interior!!)car was in
storage since early 1980s and owned by an old
lady who passed away. Car is literally a time
capsule! Looks it just came off the showroom floor.
Not one scratch or tear anywhere! Before i got it ,
the brakes and carbs were rebulit. The seller told
me all fluids were changed and that he drove 11
miles home with 30+ tires! The only problem is the
dual solex carbs need synchronizing, so he said the
car has a miss and when he took out the plugs they
were wet with gas which means the carbs is giving
too much gas right? I towed it home and havent
turned it on anymore because i was scared. I didnt
drive it yet because i didnt want to flood the engine
and i really want to take it for a spin. Its technically
my first car. Also he said it might need a valve
adjustment. I dont know how to tune carbs right.
Anybody know any mechanics in the sacramento
area california of course. Thanks alot for any info.
