A/C control does not display codes

A/C control does not display codes
2000 CLK430 - dual climate control
This is a recent purchase and I don't have any history on the car, just got the car running a few days ago.
Problem:
Right now I have no A/C (air flow through all vents-but warm) so I went through the forums and tried to get the codes by following the instructions -> setting the drivers side to hi and passengers to low and pressing "rest" and "ec" with key in 2nd position. From there the recirculate light goes on but the screen is blank. I press the "auto" key to scroll and nothing the screen is blank. Does this mean no errors everything is good ?
Under normal conditions the display works fine (except no cold air)
I can get the other codes when holding "rest"-"ec" and I can scroll through those codes. Does anyone know what values and what each of those codes are indicating.
