W126 A/C Oil - PAG or POE?

My Mercedes 1991 350SDL is due for an A/C tuneup. As the 3rd owner, this car was updated from R-12 refrigerant to R-134A...date unknown. The mechanic performing the upgrade placed the 'update' decal under the hood but neglected to fill in any of the pertinent data. The service records I received with the car did not include this upgrade to R-134A, hence no date. I checked the Nippodenso compressor looking for a date on its label...no date.

Question is: How can I determine the correct A/C oil to add to the system without knowing when it was upgraded? I am aware that POE & PAG oils are incompatible.

My hope is that the Moderator might give me a clue to allow me to finish the A/C service. Any assistance from the Moderator or one of you Mercedes gurus would be most appreciated...Thank you!
