GL 550 Brake Problems

I own a 2013 GL 550. Have got into two rear end accidents in last 6 months. Brakes seem to lock up instead of the anti lock brake system working. These were both under 10 miles an hour.
Mercedes has had the car for over two months and tells me they cannot supply the fenders to repair the car as they are out and changed suppliers. I cannot get the car back to inspect the brake system. Something smells rotten and I am wondering if there is anyone who knows anything about the inability of Mercedes to supply fenders for such a popular car. Have there been that many accidents.

ABS usually isn't enabled below certain speeds for most vehicles as it's ineffective at low speeds. W164's don't activate ABS at speeds below 15kph (9.3mph)

Honestly if you're hitting someone hard enough in the rear in a vehicle the size of a GL to need new fenders as well it's probably you're driving that needs improving not the ABS.

It would appear there are delays in getting fenders after seeing a few people having the same problem on here. Just keep on MB's back about it, try a few other dealers in case they have stock as well.

Thanks for the input. I would actually have answered the same way, but no it is not my driving. I great hand eye coordination, am capable of flying a plane and shoot in the high 70's to mid 80's in sporting clay's.
I did not mention and probably should have that there was a symbol of a rear end of a car(left side) and front end of a car (right side) and some electronic mark between them. It was that way since I bought it (under 12k miles and Mercedes certified). I looked in the manual and could not find the reference to the sign so assumed it was as it should be. The car was serviced 2 weeks prior to the second accident and the sign was still there and they said nothing to me about any problem so I double assumed it was as it should be.
As far as the damage, please remember that the car is engineered to crumple to save lives in impact. I think they did a great job on the crumple part.
Thanks for your input. I posted here because I am a MB fan and knew I would get a lot of negative feed back. I have owned over 10 of them in my life and my wife drives a E 550 Cabriolet now. There is something wrong here.

The symbol on the dash is the collision warning system. http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...al/2013_GL.pdf
Read pages 68-70 of the owners manual, the system only functions above 20 mph.

Thanks for the update. I believe pg 276 and 277 are the better answer. The image I was seeing is what is there but instead of a ! it had a zig zag kind of arrow. I did not get the "Brake Sensor Deactivated Message" pg. 277 and if that zig zag between the two cars was it I cannot find it in the Manual.
Thanks for the input.
