Car bogging at idle and CEL

I just got a check engine light on my 98 C43 and my car bogs/surges when I am coasting in idle. Also, the idle of the car tends to be a bit rough.

I've done some search in the forum and based on my experience with past issues, I think the issue could be a faulty O2 or MAF sensor.

Could the fault be related to bad gas since coincidentally, the moment I got gas the CEL came on. But my car's idle had been a bit rough lately.

Anyway, is it bad to drive with the CEL light on? I will be busy this week to bring my car in for service. Or is immediate attention required?

Any input appreciated.

Thanks,
Baron

Is your gas cap on tight? That will produce a CEL on a C240/320. Might explain the timing of the CEL coming on. Don't know if the rough idle is related.

The only way to give you the best diagnosis is to get the malfunction code and then we'll have a better time giving you the proper diagnosis.

Brian

btw:You can take you car to autozone and they will read the code for free.
