2009/59 CLC220 CDI - ABS/ESP/Tyre Pressure - Speed Sensor

Hello Everyone!

I have just joined this site today following a dilemma with my CLC.

Thanks in advance for viewing my post.

I am having the following frustrating issues:

- ABS Light On
- Dash Warning - ABS/ESP/Tyre Pressure Sensor
- Loss of Tracion Control and ABS

After connecting to 2 separate diagnostics, they show the following codes:

- C1707 Cruise Control/ESP Failure
- C1120 Rear Left Speed Sensor

I have taken the following action:

- Replaced Rear Left Speed Sensor with Aftermarket one from EuroCarParts

This did not resolve the issue so I have now:

- Fitted Genuine MB (ATE) Speed Sensor
- Fitted Genuine MB Pick Up Ring
- Held brake and steered Left and Right (Attempting to reset ABS)
- Driven the car a short distance after fitting the 2 above parts.
- Cleared Fault Codes (Done by Garage, not sure if this was done properly)
- Replaced Battery with Exide Premium from EuroCarParts
- Checked ABS and ESP Fuses in engine compartment.

This fault arose around 8 months ago. I have not driven the car in the last 6 months and when coming back to it, the battery did not have enough power to start the engine. It did however just power the dash, albeit clicking and flashing on and off. I replaced the battery as above.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is causing me no end of problems, time and expense. I am now at a loss as to what else I can do to resolve this.

Thanks!

Welcome, I'm sort of a newbie too. I'll try and help. Can you read out the tire pressures on the dash? That's where I would start. Also after inflating them to the correct pressures, go to the initialization process in the cluster. If your model has this feature. I believe the car thinks it has a low/ flat tire.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
Tyre Pressure Sensor is inoperative.
The Tyre Pressure sensor is part of the speed sensor and does not calculate current inflation etc. It simply displays a warning if it detects they are low.
Tyre Pressures are all ok.
Cluster Initialisation process?

Forgot your in UK. Here you can relearn the tire pressures in the cluster menu. On yours you could try unplugging the abs computer for a couple minutes and reconnect. You could have a bad connection there and it's not reading the speed sensor. After unplugging, look at wire connectors in plug and see if any look sunk down.
