2008 ML350 - Third Brake Light Lit when car is off
So as I was driving home today, I got caught in a really bad rain storm. No flooding or anything, just a lot of rainfall. I got home and everything seemed fine, but I went outside to close the outside gate and noticed my third brake light was flickering on and off. When I hit the remote it shut off and seemed fine. But again later I decided to go check on it and now the light is just on. I hit the lock button on the remote and it'll shut off for about 30 seconds then turn back on.
I decided to pull off the back panels and noticed some water puddling inside both left and right quarter panel compartments where the access is to the tail lights and fuse box. I noticed there's a bit of water on the Delphi: Rear Sam.
Is the rear sam done for? If so, how much does one typically cost? Will it just go back to normal once it dries?
Would this typically be covered under insurance? I do have full coverage, which covers storms and flooding.
Also, how would water even get in there?
Best regards,
Eric
