touch-shift shifts at redline?

hey all,

curious...does touch-shift automatically shift when you hit redline?

like when i leave it in 1st and let it hit redline, will it upshift automatically for me?

I was using touch-shift on the highway today and I didn't want to try it, fearing that I might damage something but I did let it rip to about 5k RPM's then shift it myself. DAMN do those gears go LONG. 1st gear got me to about 50mph at 5,000 RPM's

Thanks!

Yes it WILL upshift just before redline....if it hits redline the rev limiter will shut off the fuel

I guess we will in the future be hearing from whoever buys your car when it is sold. Why abuse it??

i'm not abusing it. it's never been pushed before in it's life. i think it's able to take a little stress once in a great while to let it be "opened up".

IMO, abusing it would be flooring it from start every time, having absolutely no respect for the car, trashing it, slamming on it's brakes everytime you get a chance, etc etc.

how about when you kick it down on the highway to pass someone? is that considered abuse by letting it ride in the higher RPM's?

this is merely seeing what the car can do. if a 80k car can't handle that a few times in it's life...what can, right?

Go for it GDawg! You KNOW that MB engines are tough. and reving it to the redline IS NOT abusing the engine at all.
