Question How far apart should key fobs be kept?

So the dealer told me that if you keep the two key fobs close together, they will continue to communicate with one another, and drain the key fob battery. Likewise, if you keep the key fob too close to the car, it can drain the car battery. A quick Google search supports this (lots of stories of ppl's key fobs dying when kept in close proximity to one another, and when kept close to the vehicle). Some even recommend wrapping the key fob in foil if it'll be stored close to the car and/or another keyfob.

So what's the optimal distance the key fob should be:
1) Away from the car
2) Away from another key fob (whether for the same car or another)

TIA!
