ok we have a 2012 ML63, new to us a month or so ago... When we bought it you could hear the motor turn over slow like a weak battery then it fired right up.... after driving it for 10-15 minutes it started normally, motor turns over quick and fires up... figured battery was just weak sitting for sale...

Over the week noticed it sometimes starts slow and sometimes quick... this can happen after sitting overnight or sitting for an hr after being driven for an hr... very strange symptoms....

After a few weeks, we brought it to Sarasota MB and they installed a new battery....

Hasn't changed the symptoms....

In the service records i see a new starter a few years back and 2 batteries...

Any clues what's wrong ?

As its had a new starter and battery, most likely a poor ground somewhere.

Check the engine to chassis ground strap.

Did you ever figure out the issue? My 14 does this at times as well and it’s very intermittent. I have to say today was the longest crank I’ve had. Drove to operating temp for about 20-30 minutes. Parked for 3 hours and went to start but cranked long and started.

Starter issue, those 278 starter are week, changed mine and now car fires very fast.
