tech - can i reset hvac?

Is there any way to reset the hvac system in my 98 W208 CLK320? I had my AC compressor replaced and whenever I turn on the car, the "EC" mode will come on and won't turn off. I have to turn off the car, turn it twice to the ignition, press the defrost button, EC will come off, press defrost again to switch to cooling, EC will come on again, press EC to turn it off, then start the car. It's getting really annoying and embarrassing...is there any way to fix this? Are there special connections between the computer and AC compressor that might have not been connected when the new one was put in?

Then on top of this, the drivers side window just broke. Is it true that the entire window assembly is one piece and that to replace one part, you have to buy the whole deal?

The hvac may be a programming issue or a failed controller. Its also possible but not likely that whoever installed the compressor did not put the plugs and wiring as they were before. Did you use the correct compressor?? That too could cause some problems. Re the window, sorry have no clue

If the EC(economy) light stays on all the time, that is the control unit indicating a fault in the system. A stored DTC related to system pressure or other electrical faults will shut off the compressor and illuminate the LED on E.C. You cant reset it unless you pull the codes, fix the problem and erase the code.

Do you have climatronic?

f you have a factory installed Climatronic unit, you can perform a climate control system check, diagnosis, and reset of registers...

Press and hold the "Defrost" and "Recirc" buttons together, and release only when the lights on both buttons start to flash back and forth between them. This procedure starts a system self-diagnosis of all components, sensors, etc., and then resets all the settings to the appropriate normals. He explained all this to me in technospeak, but I didn't catch all the details. The test runs for about 15-20 seconds, then the lights stop flashing as all returns to normal.

Apparently, with use the system "settings" get changed. and can become out of sync, including settings for "Tunnel Mode," on and off trigger points for the compressor, etc. My tech said it should be done twice a year or at least at every A or B service. (yea, like all techs are trained, or remember to do this...) .....courtesy MB-BOB from an earlier post
