Is there a commercial product I can use to connect to my C230 for programming the ECU or accessing diagnostic codes?

 

Nothing is out that will program the ECU other than the SDS Laptop ($~25,000.00), however, there may be some OBDCII compliant readers available that may let you read OBDCII codes. I've read some conflicting results with some of the units however.

Anyone ever tried one ?

 

I didn't try it with a C280, but it works great with my C270CDI. Works with a lot of other cars too, if they're new enough. Tried it on a Renault Clio, Lotus Elise and a Smart

snapon in the US sell a MB diagnostic tool that is meant to be able to do everything that the Mercedes testers can do , with the following limitations
(a) No safety related system programming
(b) Officially only works up to MY99, so will have some functionaily missing for cars after 99
(c) Id imagine others features (such as door key programming) are missing
