lubricate power folding mirror, ML350
Not long ago I had my daughter's passenger side mirror replaced, and it worked fine for couple of months. The mirrors are set to close when she locks the car, but recently the passenger side will "stutter" as it tries to fold, and then it will fail to fold and stay open. If I give it a little "help" during the stuttering it WILL fold. On the W164 forum, a member was kind enough to provide me the attached along with the advice "lubricate the pivot point." The instructions state "Push right outside mirror away to the front In direction of engine hood." That, of course, is the opposite of the direction it folds. Can someone confirm that it will move in that direction? Maybe it's held in place with a really strong spring because when I push with a fair amount of pressure it does not move. I'm afraid to break it.
