water in boot
I have a '07 E class wagon with 4matic. Recently we discovered water pooling in the spare tire compartment. I've wet vacuumed it out each time. How do we diagnose how the water is getting in?

Going to be the trunk lid gasket, a tail light gasket, or a leak around a corner of the rear window.
The photo in this post shows how the trunk gasket should *not* be. I compared each side after discovering the trunk carpet was damp on the driver's side but not the passenger side. You may need to pull all panels in the trunk, ensure all is dry, then spray around the tail lights, open trunk and look for water infiltration. Repeat for trunk lid and then window if necessary. Laying/taping paper towels under possible trails will lead you to the leak.
