300D ignition removal

My father recently purchased a 1982 300D and he is having difficulty removing the ignition switch. He has consulted the manual for this and says that he is following the instruction and it is not wanting to come out. Does any one have any exerienced instruction fr removing this, or perhaps some intructions other than what is included with the manual?

I Would Post this on Mercedesshop.com

The Elect portion is easy to replace two screws on the back side
The Complete switch will take some work....

Thanks for your help, I just got off of the phone with him and he said that he soaked the ignition with PB blaster, let it dry, hit it with ether and let it dry and then did it again with WD-40 and it seems to work almost perfect now.
