What is induction noise??

What is "induction noise"? There was a recent comment on the Mercedes 3.2 liter V6(forgot which magazine) that it has something like "teeth grating" induction noises..what would that be? By the way, the comment was on the 3.2 used in the Chrysler Crossfire.

Its the noise made by the air being sucked into the engine. The filter also acts as a silencer to a certain extent.

induction noise is a sort of snorting or a singing or both. If you want to hear a snort, lift your bonnet, start your engine and quickly pull open throttle then return it to close. you should hear a 'snort'. This being as the engine is urgently sucking in large amounts of air via the airfilter. Chances are you wont hear your airfilter sing, unless you have fitted an aftermarket filter which generally make loud viscious noises.
