2014 ML 350. When I press the button on the mirror I get a red light not a yellow or green.

Try going to the programing instructions in your manual. I'm not sure about MY14 vehicles but I think you need to hold two buttons down to get the flashing yellow code signal. On newer models it only requires holding one button to begin programming. Good luck!
