C230 SRS Airbag
I replaced an 07 C230 complete driver side door assembly with a 2006 C230 side door assembly - that appeared to be intact ( ie no damage )
Everything lined up, paint matched perfect, window motor fine
BUT - on restart a warning light came on SRS system malfunction visit workshop.
Same time - Driver airbag recall comes up -so lets go to a dealer
Dealer says the restraints are coded for the model in order to work and we cant replace the airbag until we Diagnose the SRS system and that is going to cost you
and it will take a day to figure out ( seriously? )
It is presumable that the SRS light is due to the door change - not due to a malfunction ( door swaps happen everyday )
iCarsfot MB II code reader claims it can clear airbag check lights - so I am inclined to go that route
Has anyone faced this material dilemma in the past? It seems about as straight forward as it can get.
