Radar Detector and RPM limiter

I'm need to replace a PNI RX 5000 detector because it starts beeping and flashing "laser" when my rpm's go above 1400. Is their something on my 2000 E3204W that can be causing this to happen? Best Buy audio guy thought there might be a rpm limiter on MB's causing this. Anybody have this experience? Any suggestions from a 2000 E320 owner with a detector. This unit works fine on 2 other cars that Iv'e tried it on. What about a Passport 8500- X50? JG

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
you just need a cap on the wire. youre catching a voltage spike. a cap will remedy it 100%.

It may be a vibration problem

I use a V1 on two cars and two street bikes;on one of the bikes, the Laser alarm goes off if I get over 7,000 rpm.Gently grasping the V1's case with my left hand stops the alarm by damping the vibes.

Why don't you try duplicating the conditions that set off the alarm while having the detector in your hand or sitting in your lap?.If it no longer happens, the solution is to simply change the way the detector is mounted.
