mystery after-market part on cls63

Hi all,

I am the 2nd owner of a 2012 cls63. It has a sensor-like rectangular (for the pedantic: parallelipiped) thingie attached to the bottom of the diffuser. Recently, one of the brackets attaching this thing to the bottom of the car broke, and the other bracket is on its way out. I need to replace these. The dealership told me this part is not OEM and they have no idea what it is. The wire from it goes into the trunk, then from there I can see it goes inside of the car. Please see pics below. Any clues as to what this thing is so I can reach out to the manufacturer for the specialized replacement brackets?

Really appreciate any advice on how to figure this out and fix this dangling thingamajig!

What do you think it is? Any guesses? Does it do anything?

After a LOT of googling around, I finally figured it out! it's a LIDAR detector sensor, by Beltronics I think. Looks like their parent company makes very similar units under a couple different brands.. but it's one of those for sure. I ordered the brackets from them. There's a semi-hidden control module in the cabin but I don't see the display module or a way to power on the system. Pretty sure I see the radar detector in the front, behind the bumper, although hard to get a good look at it without removing some car body parts. I'm guessing either the previous owner or the dealership took these parts off to make this modification less visible (maybe some kind of a liability reason?), but for whatever reason they didn't uninstall the entire system. This was a $1,300 unit originally so maybe I can look into what it would take to put it back in working order again...
