W211 runs very rough for a few seconds after starting
2008 E350 runs smooth for about 3-4 seconds after starting then stutters badly for about 5 seconds then runs fine after that. I recall reading somewhere that it may be a part that needs lubricating possibly somewhere on the intake manifold? Perhaps the choke isn't backing off quickly enough? This problem is several years old and initially was a cold weather issue - it would vanish in the summer. Now it's even an issue on warmer days. Any advice would be appreciated.

There is no choke on a modern fuel injected engine.
Gasoline engine, correct? If the answer is yes, you have the M272 3.5L V6 engine. Google and search this site for "balance shaft" and "tumble flap". See if any of the symptoms are similar to what you are experiencing.
