2012 E350 4matic
I’ve been looking for information on how to check fluid level in the front differential of a 2012 E350 4matic sedan. Per the MB dealer, there seems to be a leak and the cost to repair the diff seals is $2-3k. Spoke to an independent MB shop and they advised me to just check the levels and add fluid. Because of the age (8 years old, we are the original owners) and miles 62k, wait until the leak becomes noticeable where it drips. It doesn't drip fluid on the bottom engine cover yet. Can someone let me know the procedure on how to check and add fluid to the front differential on my specific year and model E350 4matic? I’m assuming the MB dealer will tell me what oil to use, based on the VIN. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Searching WIS didn't turn up a "check oil level".
The front axle is filled through the axle shaft hole. If you're up for it, pull an axle shaft and dip your finger into the housing. The oil level should be level at the bottom of the axle shaft hole, or near to it.
There is a service document that says to check for oil leaking from the breather tube, in cases of leaking axles. Check to see that you are 100% positive where the oil is coming from.
Mercedes fluids (oils) are a complex topic. Google "Mercedes bevo" and you will find it. Or post your VIN here.
