Location of turning signal relay 1973 450SL

Location of turning signal relay 1973 450SL
Hi everyone,
When I took my 1973 450SL to MB they identified that the turning signal relay was shot and removed it. I ordered a new one, and went to install it after reading that it was under the dash on the driver's side. I've opened up the dash and can't find anywhere it might fit. I've been searching this site and others and am stumped. Even Haynes just says "under the dash, driver's side".
Can anyone *please* tell me *exactly* where to look for the location of where it should go? A detailed description would be MOST welcome!
