Battery Concerns

Hello all,

Are there any consequences to replacing the starter battery without disconnecting the negative terminal on the auxiliary battery?

Starer battery replaced under the conditions I just described and now the 18 month old auxiliary batteryi is dead.

There are additional issuess namely the steering wheel functions are inoperative.

Any and all assistance greatly appreciate.

WIS says nothing about disconnecting the aux ("additional") battery to replace the main battery. There is a reference to remove the negative cable of the additional battery, only after a voltage test with the primary battery negative cable removed indicates residual voltage in the system.

If you haven't replaced the additional battery, on a 6 year old vehicle, it's time. And the new main battery may have caused problems for the older additional battery.
