On 2007 e63 amg wagon, the left rear keyless entry control unit is bad. Does the new ( used ) control unit, part number 211 829 37 85, need to be programed to the key?

What is your VIN? The part number you posted does not come up in EPC or mercedesbenzstarparts.com

If your vehicle is a W211, per WIS AR80.35-P-0001T removal and installation of rear door KEYLESS GO control units N69/8 (left) and N69/9 (right) say nothing about coding or programming.

Same with KEYLESS GO control units N102 and N103 (front and trunk), nothing stated about coding or programming.

really depends on where you get the module from
if from a same donor car it should have a good chance to work instantly
there is nothing in this device using VIN

Hello, I gave the wrong part number for control module,it is 2304014702. It's the same for both rear doors and each module controls both the front and rear keyless entry. I have a fault code B1016, Keyless Go Fault, No Feedback Received From Left Side Door Module. It also says; Drive Authorization (EIS 211). I purchased two used modules, thinking at least one would function, but neither one fixed it. Both left side handles have been replaced a couple years ago, first one then the other at a different time. My manual says the same as yours, but my manual is lacking any diagnostic or fault code references. From what I can make out from the manual, the coding involves the antenna and possibly the control module at the rear of the car.
