in dash temp sensor replacement

Need to replace the temperature sensor on a 2007 E63. Need to know if I can get to it by removing the instrument cluster, instead of going the lower route?

Not liking what I'm reading, possibly you can gain access by removing lower cover. See attachments.

The manual calls for going in from underneath, removing the lower dash, air duct, EIS and a small magnesium brace. To access all this laying on my back, I'll need to remove the seat. The sensor is fairly close to the instrument cluster and I believe it is easy to remove. What I'm wondering is there access to the sensor with the cluster removed? Thanks, Sid

I did replace the sensor in the dash. Very difficult because of the crowded area it is in. The instrument cluster must be removed to get to the magnesium brace bolt and the removal of the sensor has to come from underneath. The instructions are all in the shop manual. Unless your young and flexible, you need to remove the seat to have enough room to get your head and one hand in the area. The new sensor did fix my problem. When the car was warm and turned off for a short time, when restarted the heat came on for about one or two minutes before the AC would kick in. Very uncomfortable in the summer time.
