2015 S550 High Oil use plus oil in breather pipe, cause??
The good news is there are no error codes, no check engine light, all readings in Xentry show engine is running as expected, smooth running on all cylinders, no misfires etc
Bad news is of course there is something amiss for the high oil use and the smell.
I removed the PCV valve but before I removed it I could see oil in the breather pipe (see pic), after removal I could also see sludge in the valve itself. (see other pic of PCV next to good one)
Compression is fine, my next plan is to do a leakdown test to try to help pinpoint the problem.
Just want to ask for any pointer/suggestions as to what could be causing this.
Thanks in advance
OIL in breather pipe
sludge in PCV Valve
Performed leak down test on all cylinders. There was almost zero leakage on all 8 cylinders (see pic)
Does this mean that things are likely OK within the engine itself? (would explain how it seems to run without any errors)
If so, what else could be the cause? Where should I look next?
I'm going to change the componenet that was filled with sludge in initial post.
Would welcome any other suggestions
