Question 300TD oil cooler lines

'83 Mercedes 300TD wagon. Any wisdom, council and advise on doing a preventative service maintenance job on the upper & lower oil cooler hoses.
As you know, these two lines run from the oil cooler on the turbo diesel 5 cyl. engines to the oil filter housing. Evidently they are a nightmare to change and I have some concern for loosening off the nuts that connect the flanged
hoses to the fragile oil cooler core. Any tips on simplifying the replacement of these aging oil lines with new OEM hoses? Jim
