W210 E55 Vibration on Deceleration

W210 E55 Vibration on Deceleration
165k miles on car. There is a new annoying vibration when decelerating (especially when cold0 as rpm drop below 1500. Thought it was engine and trans mounts, which are now new. Not it.
My magnifying mind is now imagining expensive transmission issues but I don't really understand what goes on in an automatic transmission. My go-to independent says that he has never had an e55 trans problem and to drive it. Not my answer.
Can any transmission-experienced members give me an idea how to proceed?
In San Diego. Would prefer to avoid dealerships.
Open to suggestions/referrals.

Care to be a bit more explicit? Any suggestions about where to start? I just had mounts done after diagnosing the problem myself but that proved to be $1000 that didnt fix the issue. I'd rather not throw money at anything but the best next things to check.
