Lost key

Lost my key to my 2016 GLC, what’s cheap way to get a replacement? Dealer quoted me $630 not including the labor.

can I use MB Connect or the app to unlock lock the car without physical key?

You can indeed lock and unlock the vehicle with Mercedes Me you wouldn't be able to start it or you can start the vehicle but you can't unlock it and keep the engine running.

Do you not have a second key though? All new MBs come with two keys and most if not all CPOs also come with two keys.

Unfortunately you can't drive the vehicle with just Mercedes Me alone as it isn't a full replacement for your physical key. The reason why you can't start the engine and unlock the vehicle while keeping the engine on through Mercedes Me is because of a "safety feature" The engine automatically turns off when you unlock the vehicle.

Even if you could, I certainly wouldn't want to depend on that app to get me where I needed to go! I guarantee that you would very quickly find yourself stuck somewhere during one of the app's infamously numerous dysfunctional periods.

Yes that is true, I came across several threads here on mbworld talking about Mercedes Me not working for them.
