MB 1985 300TD wagon SLS started working?

Hi Community another delemma here, Can anyone tell me why the SLS just started working on my 1985 300TD Wagon? The SLS has needed repair for a while and was the next fix on the list when funds became available. We never overloaded the rear due to the suspension needing an overhaul. I drove this morning for about an hour, went back out 30 minutes later and the car was sitting up in the rear, wow! I couldn't believe it? Still can't! So I took it for a drive and immeditely on the right rear side I hear a small hissing sound when I depress the fuel pedal. The ride was that of an amusement park, the car literally will bounce you in your seat while driving on flat road? Has anyone ever heard of the SLS raising the rear of the car without any maintenance? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, Thank you, Dana
