Help a newbie - models choices etc

I am looking to buy a used Mercedes within the next few months and have been a bit overwhelmed with all the models and options, especially so because I have to drive a good 30-50 miles just to see one used usually (very few around me in my age/price range), I want to stay under 12K and get something in the mid 90's models with around 75-115K miles.

I am also a tall driver so headroom is important (yet I don't want a cnvt model), actually I am looking for a 4 door sedan mid to full sized.

I drove a 2000 C250ML (Seemed small to me inside)
I drive a 92 300E 2.6 (fit better yet could still use more head room)
both had sunroofs but heck almost EVERY mercedes i see has one...

As for the numbers and letters like ML etc I don't even know what those are,
I know the basic model lines C E S and C for coupe D for Diesel etc etc but ML? Since I didnt fit well I didn't even stay to ask...

I and am still looking for other models to test drive and sit in to see how I fit.
Is there any resource on the web that has interior drivers leg and headroom (sorta like what you see in the dealer brochures), for older models? So i could go look up a 94 C280 and see how much room i might expect to have by measurement?

Also are there certain years or models I should shy away from (for reliability issues?) or are there certain years and models I SHOULD look for (prime years or makes).

I am not into the whole luxury new car spend 70G with awesome new car ride and feel, the Mercedes I am looking for is used and a mid to entry level car that will be dependable with upkeep (at least that is what I am hoping).

The 190E's are around used at much lower costs than say an E320, yet do the 190E's have problems moreso than other models etc?

Basically any help you guys gals can offer will be greatly appreciated, I plan to buy something used with around 100K on it and hopefully hope to get another 100K out of it by taking it in for regular services.

Thanks for any and all input,

Bill

Never heard of a C280ML. ML is the SUV and in the US it came in 320, 350, 430 and 500 versions plus the AMG version. With your height I would be surprised if you were comfortable in anything less than an E class or perhaps a 320ML.
